Mitchell Epner Discusses Bryan Kohberger’s Request To Withdraw Guilty PleaIn Idaho University Murders with News Nation

Partner Mitchell Epner appeared on News Nation to discuss the news that Bryan Kohberger, who pled guilty to the University of Idaho killings, and received four consecutive life sentences, would be filing a motion to
vacate his guilty plea.

Mitchell explained that Kohberger “can change his mind, but that doesn’t mean that the court has to give him any additional process.”

When asked what potentially happens next, Mitchell said that one option is that the judge will deny the request, or “it is possible that the judge will create some sort of process in order to allow Kohberger to come
forward and present evidence as why his plea should be overturned and not accepted as being voluntary. If, at the end of that process he were to win, what he would win is a new trial where the death penalty would be back on the table.”
