Mitchell Epner Discusses Implications of Shane Hennen’s Guilty Pleawith Front Office Sports

Shane Hennen, a central figure in the poker case and sports betting case, will plead guilty to one count of wire fraud conspiracy in the poker case.

Mitchell explained that although Hennen agreed to plead guilty only in the poker case, this likely means the charges against him in the betting case will be dropped, which is standard operating procedure.

Mitchell clarified that “there is credit you get for just pleading guilty” because it means the government does not have to put in the time and effort to prove its case.

Mitchell also opined that Hennen’s guilty plea is not necessarily terrible for former professional athlete Chauncey Billups who was charged with money-laundering conspiracy and wire-fraud conspiracy and has pleaded not guilty.
